We are in the midst of an AI Arms Race but not one perhaps recognisable to the average person - simply put, AI is the catalyst for a new kind of arms race and with new generations of weapons, ranging from the emergence of new drones to lethal autonomous weapon systems. In many cases, the ‘target’ is our societies and the technological support structures sustaining them.

Here at CSNSC, we have engaged in a well-developed research programme to better understand the challenges associated with this new phenomenon and are seeking to identify potential solutions and countermeasures.

Within this Initiative, we aim to publish a mix between short form articles and more detailed longer research articles, all while maintaining a more regular online presence. The focus of the research centres around the new security challenges that Artificial Intelligence poses, while also researching the wider issues of terrorism and proliferation.
