Faith and Reason
AI is already having an impact on fundamental issues linked to man's understanding of what it means to be human. Whether this is a debate about AI initiatives such as brain implantations and other forms of AI-enabled human augmentation or new forms of bot 'companionship', there is an undoubted resonance with our existing concepts of creation, philosophical appreciation of how future societies might develop and whether or not this might negatively impact evolution.
The Centre is keen to explore the boundaries of philosophy and theology in the search for clues, whether this might be the concerns of organised churches, the emergence of new forms of worship of technology or so-called 'rearguard' actions to ground the debates in a better appreciation of what role philosophy and religion might play, should the need be to counter perceived forms of dystopian futures.
